Welcome to the Burta Rhoads Raborn Inn of Court

Houston, Texas

Welcome to the Burta Rhoads Raborn Family Law Inn of Court, an affiliate of the American Inns of Court.

The organization is designed to improve the skills, professionalism and ethics of the bench and bar. The first American Inns of Court were established in 1980, spurred by Justice Warren Burger’s vision of adopting the traditional English model of legal apprenticeship to the needs of the American legal system. Each Inn is dedicated to the professional development of its members and mentoring of its students. The Inn provides a unique opportunity for lawyers, judges and 2013 Silver Distinction Winner
students to engage with one another in a collegial setting. It forms a sense of community that reminds us that we each have responsibility for the quality and health of our legal system. American Inns of Court help lawyers to become more effective advocates and counselors with a keener ethical awareness. Younger members learn side-by-side with the most experienced judges and attorneys in their community.

Each year our Inn presents ten dinner/program meetings that highlight and discuss professionalism, civility and ethics in different legal scenarios. In so doing we create an environment of excellence for the family law system in our community. I am confident that you will enjoy the company of your colleagues, the programs and the group discussions.

The Burta Rhoads Raborn Family Law Inn of Court was chartered on November 4, 1995. The Inn is named in honor of the late Burta Rhoads Raborn, a highly respected Houston attorney and certified public accountant, in appreciation for her many years of service to the legal profession and friendship to its members. We are proud to honor her commitment to family law.

Please peruse our Web site for more information about our Inn and the application process. Thank you for your interest.
